The attempted assassination of Donald Trump has become a major global news story, capturing the attention of media outlets worldwide.
Victims of the attempted assassination
During a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump was shot and wounded in the ear. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and is now recovering at his home in New Jersey. Trump is reported to be in good condition.
Trump’s survival is being regarded as both a stroke of luck and a miracle. The FBI has classified the shooting as an attempted murder. “This incident is being treated as an assassination attempt,” stated FBI spokesperson during a press conference.
In addition to Trump, there were three other victims: one person was killed, and two others were seriously injured.
The Man Who Shot Donald Trump and the Crime Scene
➤ The shooter was killed by a sniper providing security for Trump. The FBI identified the assailant as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, a resident of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, located near Butler, where the assassination attempt took place.

CNN reported that Crooks graduated from high school in 2022, and these elections would have been the first in which he was eligible to vote. Like Trump, he was a registered Republican. However, a video circulating on social media allegedly shows Crooks sitting in a car, stating to the camera, “My name is Thomas Matthew Crooks. I hate Republicans, I hate Trump, and guess what? You got the wrong guy.” This video was reportedly recorded on the eve of the assassination attempt. The authenticity of the video has not been confirmed by U.S. authorities, and it may be a hoax.

➤ The shooting was allegedly from an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, from the roof of a high-rise building that is about 100 to 130 meters from the rally site.
Investigators believe Crooks acted alone, but the investigation is still ongoing and nothing is definite.
