U.S. President Donald Trump issued an Iran ultimatum and an apocalyptic warning just hours before a military deadline was set to expire at 8:00 p.m. Washington time on April 7. Trump stated that the Middle East region faces a large-scale war if Tehran fails to meet Washington’s conditions. The international community remains on high alert as the deadline for unprecedented escalation approaches.

“An entire civilization will perish tonight, and it will never be resurrected. I don’t want it to happen, but it probably will,” Donald Trump posted on Truth Social.

Trump continues to maintain that regime change is currently underway in Iran. He expressed hope for “something revolutionary” and stated that the decades-long era of “extortion, corruption, and death” will finally conclude this evening.

Washington’s demands are specific. Iran is expected to immediately agree to a peace deal and fully unblock the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

If Iran refuses, the United States has promised to move into a radical phase of its military campaign. Over the weekend, Trump identified targets for American aircraft and missiles, stating that key bridges and the country’s energy system—”starting with the largest power plant“—would be subjected to a massive strike.

This “doomsday” deadline has already been postponed three times. Trump pushed back previous dates citing behind-the-scenes negotiations, though official Tehran categorically denied that any dialogue was taking place. Furthermore, Iranian authorities continue to shell neighboring states and threaten those who do not support their position.

NEWSROOM IN notes that the joint U.S.-Israeli military operation against Iran, codenamed “Epic Fury,” has been ongoing since February 28. Transitioning to strikes on critical infrastructure would represent its most destructive phase to date.

Iran has shown no intention of retreating and has promised symmetrical retaliation. Authorities in Tehran officially warned that if American missiles hit Iranian power plants, a retaliatory strike will be launched against U.S. infrastructure in the region. The primary targets for the Iranian military would include energy facilities, information technology centers, and vital desalination plants belonging to Washington’s Middle Eastern allies.

While refusing the ultimatum may appear to be geopolitical suicide, the IRGC generals currently in power operate under a different calculation. For them, the survival of the theocratic regime takes precedence over the physical survival of the economy or the country. Any public concession to the U.S. would be viewed as a sign of weakness that could trigger an immediate domestic revolution. Consequently, Tehran is employing “global hostage” tactics, balancing on the edge of total war. By threatening to block the Strait of Hormuz and destroy Gulf infrastructure, the Iranian elite are acting like hijackers, prepared to drive their own country into the abyss in the expectation that Washington’s resolve will break first in the face of global economic collapse.
