Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla believes that Donald Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his pivotal role in the accelerated development and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, Newsweek reports.
Operation Warp Speed: A Public Health Achievement
According to Bourla, Operation Warp Speed, a program launched by Trump in 2020, was a “significant public health achievement.” This initiative, aimed at accelerating vaccine creation and distribution, is estimated to have saved over 14 million lives worldwide and helped prevent an economic collapse. Bourla noted that American innovation, realized under Trump’s leadership, restored confidence and led to over $1 trillion in savings by reducing severe illness and hospitalizations.
He also added that the program’s success has opened new avenues for research into cancer and other diseases.
Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize Nomination
Trump himself, who has long sought the Nobel Prize, has stated that he does not “crave” the award but desires fair recognition for his achievements. While the Norwegian Nobel Committee does not disclose the names of nominees, it is known that Trump received several nominations this year.
The winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on October 10.
NEWSROOM IN notes that in 2023, Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their research, which formed the basis for the development of mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.
