Editorial Policy & Standards

Editorial integrity, independence, and rigorous verification are the foundation of our work. These principles apply to every article and language edition of NEWSROOM IN.

1. Fact-Checking and Data Verification

  • Independent confirmation: We strive to confirm key factual claims through at least two independent sources, prioritizing primary documents, firsthand accounts, and verifiable data. In breaking news, when independent confirmation isn’t immediately possible before publication, we clearly state where the information came from and never present unconfirmed details as established fact.
  • Working with official statements: Government briefings, state announcements, and wire reports are valid news sources, but we draw a clear line between the fact that a statement was made and whether its claims are true. A source’s official status never means automatic verification.
  • Source transparency: We name our sources and, whenever possible, link directly to original documents, studies, and statements so readers can examine them firsthand.
  • Anonymous sources: When a source must remain anonymous for their own protection, our editors weigh the reliability of the information, the source’s potential motives, and the availability of corroborating evidence. Granting anonymity never waives our fact-checking standards.

2. Editorial Independence

The NewsRoomIn newsroom operates with complete editorial independence. Advertisers, sponsors, and commercial partners have no say in our editorial policy, story selection, coverage angle, or publication timing. We believe our self-funded and commercial model gives us far greater freedom than most grant-dependent “independent media.” Sponsored content, native advertising, and commercial special projects are always clearly labeled, and commercial links are tagged in line with search engine guidelines.

3. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

We use digital tools, including artificial intelligence, to assist with translation, data structuring, internal workflows, and analytics. However, we never publish anything a human editor is not prepared to stand behind. Under no circumstances do these tools replace human reporting, source gathering, or editorial judgment.

4. Conflicts of Interest

Authors and editors must notify management of any potential conflict of interest before an article is published. Where a relevant conflict exists, we disclose it in an editor’s note on the piece.

5. Handling Complaints

If you believe an article is inaccurate, biased, or harmful, please email us at info@newsroomin.eu with a link to the piece and a brief explanation. Our editors review every submission and, where warranted, take action under our Corrections Policy.

6. Distinction Between Facts and Opinions

Opinion columns and personal commentary are always clearly separated from news reporting.
