The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, strongly criticized Russia. While speaking at a United Nations Security Council meeting, he said:
«Ukraine is a crime scene, and those responsible are right here in this room. We all know who you are, and we are all witnesses. The United Nations Security Council was created to reject aggression and protect peace and security for everyone.»
Michel raised a question, «Is Russia trying to revive the old Russian empire? After Ukraine, who might be next? Who else might be influenced by Putin’s dreams of the past?»
He suggested that if Russia succeeds in Ukraine, other countries might be tempted to follow their lead.
Speaking about the Ukrainian children being sent to Russia, Michel asked everyone present, including the Russian representatives: «Could you imagine if your child were taken away and sent to another country? Could you bear the pain of your child forgetting their family, language, and homeland?»
Michel also stated, «What is called ‘adoption’ is, in reality, an attempt to erase a culture.»
