A multitude of world leaders gathered in Kyiv on Monday to commemorate the somber third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The anniversary served as a stark reminder of the ongoing conflict and the enduring resilience of the Ukrainian people.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the international community, emphasizing Ukraine’s unwavering commitment to justice and accountability. “When we speak about just peace, it is difficult to find what is just about this war. We will never forget and we cannot forget. These people will answer,” Zelenskyy stated in response to a Euronews question. His words underscored the nation’s determination to see those responsible for the war brought to justice.

Zelenskyy made it clear that the pursuit of a tribunal to prosecute war crimes would remain a priority for Ukraine, even as diplomatic efforts are explored. “Of course, we will work on tribunal, even after the hard part of this war, even when we go to diplomacy,” he affirmed. This declaration signals that accountability is not a negotiable point for Ukraine in any future peace negotiations. The international presence in Kyiv on this significant anniversary underscored global solidarity with Ukraine and its fight for sovereignty and justice.
