IKEA stores in the United Arab Emirates have launched an innovative marketing campaign called “The Phone Sleep Collection.” This initiative aims to encourage customers to reduce their gadget use before bedtime, promoting a digital detox through a unique IKEA phone bed giveaway.

As part of the promotion, IKEA is giving away miniature smartphone phone beds for free to customers who make a purchase of 750 AED (approximately 175.22 EUR) or more. A key condition for receiving the phone bed is that the receipt must include at least one item from IKEA‘s main “Sleep Collection.”

Each miniature phone bed is equipped with an NFC chip that, via the IKEA app, tracks how long the gadget has “slept.” Users who consistently place their phone in the phone bed for a minimum of seven hours for seven consecutive nights receive an incentive. This reward for a digital detox is a 100 AED voucher (approximately 23.27 EUR), which can be used for purchases at IKEA stores.

As explained by Marketing General Manager Carla Klumpenaar, the campaign is designed to improve customers’ sleep quality. She stated, “Our phones often become uninvited guests in the bedroom, disrupting the very moments meant for rest. ‘The Phone Sleep Collection’ transforms this problem into a playful wellness ritual, empowering people to consciously disconnect.“
