Millions of people in Brazil received terrifying emergency alerts of an alien invasion overnight on June 21 following a widespread Brazil cyberattack. According to Wolnei Wolff, National Secretary for Civil Defense and Protection, the alerts were accompanied by loud sirens. One of the messages read: “Watch out: alien attack. Humans, we have arrived.”
Authorities quickly confirmed that government infrastructure had been hacked. Law enforcement has launched an investigation and traced the very first false message to the southern state of Paraná. Police are actively searching for those responsible for the cyberattack.
A total of nine messages were sent through the cell broadcast system, and one was sent via SMS.
