NewsRoomIn is an independent media outlet based in Vilnius, Lithuania, publishing up-to-date coverage in Russian, English, and Lithuanian. We cover international news across business, technology, health, politics, and public affairs, with a particular focus on Europe, the Baltic states, and the United States. We work across a wide range of formats, including breaking news, investigations, analysis, reportage, reviews, and opinion columns. Readers from all over the world are welcome here.
Our Story
NewsRoomIn launched in March 2022, when Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine came to dominate the global agenda, triggering a wave of fierce information warfare and emotional manipulation.
It became clear then that much of the media was rapidly sliding into either blatant propaganda or an endless battle over interpretations. In that deafening noise, what mattered most was lost: facts, context, and the ability to see the whole picture. Scientific discoveries, the global economy, culture, and honest human stories were pushed to the margins.
We realized that people badly needed a point of reference: a space free of propaganda noise and ready-made ideological labels. NEWSROOM IN was born as an answer to the total polarization of the media.
Our principle is simple: we do not lecture you on how to live or hand down moral verdicts. We gather facts, double-check our sources, and cover events broadly and honestly, leaving the conclusions to you.
Our team has been working in independent international journalism since 2013.
Project Leadership
The NewsRoomIn project is led by:
- Aivaras Goodman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Aivaras oversees business operations, guides strategic development, and handles commercial deals for NewsRoomIn. On principle, he does not interfere in editorial policy, and his own articles are published on the website under the same rules as everyone else’s. His main focus is building systems for life and business, and he owns other ventures that help fund the newsroom’s work. His favorite book is the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Association), and his favorite author is Carl Jung.
- Tania Dekker, Information Director. Every day, Tania sifts through gigabytes of information and analyzes statements from public figures. Thanks to her, NewsRoomIn refuses to publish dry, ceremonial press releases from politicians without first translating them into lively, human language. Outside of news, she has a keen interest in standout advertising and marketing campaigns, as well as absurdist comedy.
- Darius Sadkovski, Executive Director, Media Manager. Darius is an analyst with encyclopedic knowledge. He takes a philosophical view of journalists’ “disdain” for numbers and logic, which earned him the newsroom nickname “the physicist-mathematician.” Thanks to him, the numbers in our analytical pieces are always spot on. He does not consider politicians a reliable source of serious information and evaluates their social media posts strictly against their motives and verifiable facts.
Editorial Authors, Partners, Guest Authors
Many of our articles are published under a single shared editorial byline — NewsRoom. These pieces are the work of several team members rather than a single person. We chose this approach because one journalist can physically track and organize only a fraction of the daily news agenda, and we prefer to maintain a unified newsroom profile rather than scatter content across dozens of personal accounts.
When an article lists one or more specific authors, it means the piece was written by them (unless stated otherwise).
In opinion columns and publications with a strongly expressed viewpoint, the author’s opinion may not align with the editorial position; however, all facts in such texts are verified according to the same unified editorial standards. Every article, whether under the shared NewsRoom byline or the name of a specific author, undergoes mandatory editorial fact-checking.
Not all authors featured on the NewsRoomIn website are part of our permanent team. We collaborate with guest authors, co-authors, analysts and experts who help cover specific events, prepare articles, and share professional expertise.
Collaboration on a specific project, event, or publication does not in itself mean that a person becomes a permanent member of the NewsRoomIn team. Nor does it automatically grant the right to use accreditation, press cards, or other statuses belonging to the publication or its staff. Conversely, the fact that a person is not publicly listed on the website does not mean they do not work for or collaborate with NewsRoomIn, as many of our staff and contributors work under the shared editorial byline or behind the scenes.
If you would like to learn more about a specific author or the nature of their collaboration with NewsRoomIn, write to us at info@newsroomin.eu and we will clarify the nature of our relationship.
Security
Some of our authors publish under pseudonyms. This is a deliberate security measure to protect journalists from the risks that can come with investigative reporting, both on our platform and in other outlets.
We work with contributors from many countries, including Russia and Ukraine. In times of political tension and armed conflict, publicly naming a journalist can put both them and their families in danger. Because members of our team have repeatedly faced threats to themselves and their loved ones, we view protecting our staff’s identities and personal data as a vital part of responsible journalism.
An author’s anonymity never absolves our editorial team of full responsibility for the article and the accuracy of every fact in it.
Our Products
Most of what we publish is our own original reporting. We also aggregate news from outside sources, which our editors thoroughly verify before publication. Our three language editions operate partly as independent desks and partly by sharing stories across teams. Behind the scenes, translation, news workflows, and editorial coordination are powered by TRITON, NewsRoomIn’s proprietary internal system.
If you are a fellow journalist or media outlet quoting our work, we kindly ask that you credit NewsRoomIn with a direct hyperlink to the original article.
Our Logo and Brand Colors
The shark became the symbol of NEWSROOM IN for a few reasons. It is our CEO’s favorite animal, and it also serves as an honest metaphor for the media. A shark has to keep swimming constantly just to breathe and stay alive. If it stops, that’s it. The news business works the exact same way: you are either moving every second, or you cease to exist.
Our first logo paired the shark with a bright red steppe carnation. The flower was the idea of our Information Director, Tania Dekker, who considers it the most “designer” flower in the world. To her, it looks like a true miracle standing out against the monotonous steppe landscape. (And yes, that is a metaphor too.)
We chose blue, white, and red as our original brand colors in homage to French journalism. Our team views the French press as one of the most authoritative in the world, known for its unique investigative traditions, strong analytical school, and fierce independence. La liberté de la presse!
Today our shark looks a bit stricter, but it still reflects the project’s original philosophy.
